You can do a similar analysis for the top paying blue collar jobs, and how many job openings each of them have.

Some good jobs to focus on here would be :

Electrician, Pipe Fitter, Auto-Diesel-Aviation Mechanic, Welder, Plumber, Machinist, Home Renovation Contractor


Its important to have a mix of classes to help students get a job in both the white collar world and the blue collar world.  Not everyone wants or needs to go onto collage, and there are a lot of high paying jobs that require skill rather than a collage degree.  A high school course that helps you get into an apprenticeship for one of the trades may be better for some students than just preparing them for a university.  For more information see the Mike Rowe Foundation.
